Anthony R. "Tony" Hilko, Sr.

Anthony R. "Tony" Hilko, Sr.,86, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born March 1, 1935 in Glassport and was the son of the late Michael and Anna Mary (Smolchick) Hilko. Tony was a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish. He worked numerous jobs throughout his life, he was a bricklayer, worked for the former Continental Can and retired as a security guard for Magee Hospital. He was quiet, but well liked. Tony enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, especially at his camp in Potter County. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy A. (Dudash) Hilko, children, Anthony "Tony" (Karen) Hilko, Jr. of North Huntingdon, Diane (Ronald) Spyra of Washington, Michele (Frank Ley) Celko of Vandergrift and Michael Hilko of Glassport, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends are welcome on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at The Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish, (St. Michael Site), 101 McClay Drive, Elizabeth, PA 15037 with The Rev. Thomas A. Wagner, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, McKeesport.
