Barbara G. Chester

Barbara G. Chester, 94, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1932 in Teaneck, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Sidney and Helen (Gustafson) Gilbert. Barbara was an avid lover of pets, especially cats, and she was a volunteer at White Oak Animal Safe Haven. She was also a very talented artist and crafter, she loved knitting, painting, drawing and doll making. With her knitting she made afghans for all of her family. Her passions and talent also expanded to taking care of people, she made dolls for children with disabilities from all around, making unique dolls to resemble the kids she was making them for. She was also an administrative assistant at Elm Manor, a personal care home in Canandaigua, New York. She will be very missed by her family. She is survived by her sons, Rob (Teresa) Chester of White Oak and Steven Chester of Hopewell Center, NY; grandchildren, Amanda Chester of White Oak, Catie Chester of Rochester, NY, and Alissa (Bryan) Chester-Kelly of Oceanside, CA; and great-grandson, Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Daniel and John Chester; and grandsons, Eric and Andy Chester. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to White Oak Animal Safe Haven, 2295 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131.
