Betty Jane Decker

Betty Jane Decker, 87, of McKeesport, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC.  Born on September 13, 1931 in the home in McKeesport where she spent her entire life, she was the youngest daughter of the late Richard and Clara (Fey) Trainor.  She was married to Alvin P. Decker for 68 years whom she met while working at McKeesport Baking Company.  She later worked at The Donut Corner, then Bertos Restaurant and finally 23 years cooking and serving lunch to the students of St. Joseph Regional School in Port Vue.  In addition to husband, she is survived by her daughter, Alberta Decker (Paul Paterra) of McKeesport, a grandson whom she helped raise, Joshua (Dr. Stacy) Decker of North Huntingdon, stepson, James Greenawald of McKeesport, nieces Norma Hrozencik of Whitehall, Suzanne Hanna of McKeesport, Paula Ballas of West Mifflin, nephew, Robert Hrozencik of Vilas, NC and special friend, Joyce Marker of Port Vue and their families.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Nora Ambrose, Dolores Trainor, Madeline Boyd, Loretta Hrozencik, Clara Ruby and nephews, Paul Hrozencik, Charles Boyd, Albert Ruby and Eugene Ruby.   There is no visitation.  The family extends the utmost appreciation to Dr. Anna O’Connor for her extreme compassion shown at the time of our loved one’s passing.
