Bonnie Joanne Pope

Bonnie Joanne Pope, 67, of Port Vue, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at home. She was born June 6, 1955 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Gordon Eynon and Bernice Lucille "Lu" (Edwards) Koon. She was a member of Greenock United Methodist Church. As an adult, she obtained her Associates Degree from CCAC and later her Bachelors Degree at CalU. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and accountant for Gardner-Pope Architecture. She was involved with The Elizabeth Township Community Chorus and would also sing at her church and for special occasions. Bonnie was a kind person and was a lifelong Sunday school teacher, avid reader, crafter and seamstress. Most importantly, Bonnie was a great wife, mother and Mimi to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, The Rev. Edwin D. Pope; children, Rebecca (Tracey) Pope-Ruark, Jayne (Kyle) Ferkett, and Derrick (Karyn) Pope; grandchildren, Ethan, Teagan, Devyn and Georgina; brothers, Charles (Sharon) Koon and John (Cindy) Koon; her dog, Sabastion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am on Monday, February 20, 2023, Pastor Andrew Flower, officiating.
