It is with profound love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Cecilia Conley Harbin of McKeesport, PA, who departed on July 4, 2026. Carolyn leaves behind a beautiful, far-reaching legacy built on a boundless capacity to love, nurture, and advocate for children in need. Born on July 24, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Mary Frances Koerner Conley and Regis Conley, Sr. She was a devoted wife, mother, MeMe, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and caregiver whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. Carolyn, a devoted Catholic, was married to the late Walter Anthony “Pete” Harbin for 57 years. Together, they built a life centered on deep faith, family, and cherished traditions. She is survived by her children, Carol Ann “Missy” Gralish (Bob Eckle), Doreen Elizabeth Esposito, and Richard Walter Harbin (Megan Harbin;) grandchildren Brandon Harrison, Alexa Esposito, Ryan Gralish, and Corey Weber; great-grandchild Damian Harrison, nephew Ralph "Colt" Makowski; chosen family member Caitlin Campbell, cherished sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Anthony “Pete” Harbin; her grandson, Ryan Suomela; her brother, Regis Conley; her sisters, Joyce Kidd and Jacqueline Schafer; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. For more than 55 years, Carolyn and Walt dedicated their lives to caring for others. Together they opened their hearts and home to their adopted children, foster children, and students living away from home through their role as host families with the “Share-a-Home Program.” They also lovingly cared for multiple generations of their own family and family friends’ children. Their home was a place of faith and love—a welcoming refuge where everyone was treated like family. Carolyn’s generous spirit, selfless heart, and endless compassion left a lasting impact on all who were blessed to know her. Carolyn also held a special place in her heart for the many students she welcomed through the Share-a-Home Program, including the late Paula Frye, Bernard Wendell, and William Hayes. The bonds she created with those she cared for extended far beyond the time they spent in her home and remained a treasured part of her life and legacy. Carolyn’s love extended beyond people to the many animals that brought her joy throughout her life. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved pets, Max and Bella, and cared for them with the same tenderness and devotion she showed to everyone around her. A Funeral Mass celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST at St. Patrick Parish, located at 312 32nd St., McKeesport, PA. There will be no public viewing. Following the mass, Carolyn will be laid to rest with a committal service at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, located at 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA, at 12:30 PM EST. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to DePaul School for Hearing and Speech in memory of Carolyn C.
