Charles Alvin Warren, 89, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully with the Lord, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 after a long illness, with his family around him. He was born May 3, 1932 in Waynesburg and was the son of the late John Goliway Warren and the late Mabel Olive (Williams) Warren Collins. He was the husband of the late Marilyn Clare (Closser) Warren. "Charlie" or "Chuck" was retired as Drug and Alcohol Coordinator for the Veteran's Administration Drug and Alcohol Program at VAH, Highland Drive, Pittsburgh after a career there of over forty-five years. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with both B.A. and M. Ed. He also attended Temple University on a Wrestling Scholarship following high school. He was a distinguished athlete at Waynesburg High School playing varsity for four years in baseball, football and wrestling. In addition to organized sports, Charles was an avid runner completing twenty three marathons even until age 74. He has many trophies for winning or placing in 5k and 10k races even after that. He prided himself in maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle his entire adult life. Additionally, he loved hunting and fishing and the outdoors. His sons and their friends went on numerous such trips particularly at his cabin in Sigel, PA and the family farm in Waynesburg. He was a generous, warm and loving man who will be greatly missed. He is survived by Delaine Burkett and her daughter, Jody Dietz, son, Charles Stephen (Patricia) Warren, sister, Dianne Elaine Warren, grandchildren, Margaret Shaw Warren, Dayne Charles (Britni) Warren, and Chelsea Marilyn Warren, nieces, Glenda (Dan) Lichty, Lisa (Bob) Miller, Jennifer Livermore and a nephew, Jeffrey (Vicky) Warren. He was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Gregory Warren, brother, John Grover Warren, sister, Mary Jane King and nephew, John Mark Warren. Friends are welcome Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 2 pm until service at 3 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township.
