Dushan "Duke" Vranesevic

July 12, 1923 — August 16, 2021

Dushan "Duke" Vranesevic, 98, of West Mifflin, formerly of McKeesport, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021. He was born July 12, 1923 in Duquesne and was the son of the late George and Mildred (Todorovich) Vranesevic. He was the husband of 61 years to the late Sophie (Vignovich) Vranesevic, who passed away May 15, 2009. He was a US ARMY Veteran serving in the43rd Division of the 103rd Infantry during World War II, he served in the South Pacific, New Caledonia, New Zealand and The Philippine Islands. For his service he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, The Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. Duke worked as a craneman for the former US Steel National Tube in McKeesport and retired with over 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport and it's Men's Club. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and proudly served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the State of Washington. He is survived by his daughter, Doris (Jack) Kesich of Jefferson Hills, twin sons, Dave (Donna) Vranesevic of West Mifflin and Dan (Denise "Dee Dee") Vranesevic of McKeesport, grandchildren, Kathy (Scott) Glover, Julie (Matt) Tomich, Alexis Vranesevic, Nikola (Daniella) Vranesevic, Mila (Steve) Conley, great-grandchildren, Sofia, Danica, Sonja, Alaina and Amelia and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Milan, Robert "Bojo", John and Michael and sisters, Ella, Mary, Dolores "Udy" and Danica. Friends are welcome on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak 15131 (412) 672-6322. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church at 10:00 am with The Very Rev. Rajko Kosic, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at The McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport. Memorial contributions in Duke's name may be made to the Renovation Fund at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church,901 Hartman St, McKeesport, PA 15132.
