He was born June 17, 1934, in Friedens, PA and was the son of the late George Dewey and Ruth Elmira (Hay) Weimer. George was a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He served in the Coast Guard before going to work for numerous companies, most notably as a Senior Project Engineer for Rust International Corporation in Pittsburgh.  He was a very faithful member of the First Lutheran Church, 615 Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh, where he served as Head Usher for many years, and as a member of the Property Committee and Congregational Council, and where he met his wife of 62 years, Beatrice. He was an excellent gardener and enjoyed his garden and the birds that frequent the yard at his home in Hampton Township.  He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.  A meticulous worker and thinker, he had a keen interest in history and political events, loved great music, and collected regional matchbooks, American coins, and postage stamps from all around the world. His kindness and humor will be greatly missed by friends, neighbors, and beloved extended family.  He is survived by his wife Beatrice; sons, Gregg (Penny) Weimer in Tallahassee FL, and Timothy Weimer in Longmont, Colorado; daughter, Bonnie Weimer, in Berlin, PA; grandchildren, Riley (26), Liam (19), and Fiona Weimer (16); as well as two nieces Sue (Jeff) Lomas and Betsy (Jim) Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Una June (the late Charles) Davis.  There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with The Rev. Brian Evans officiating.  Inurnment will be held in the church Columbarium.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church’s Reverence Our Sanctuary Fund to support  maintenance of this historic parish, or the Music Ministry.
