James G. McFarland

James G. "Jimmy" "Mac" McFarland, 71, of Greenock, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was born January 24, 1955 in New Castle and was the son of the late Loretta Mae (Kneram) McFarland Herchelroath. Jimmy worked as a carpenter for Merit Development and retired in 2023 after 51 years of service. Jimmy was known as a workaholic. If he wasn't at work, he was at home cutting the grass or just keeping busy doing projects or washing his Corvette. You could also find Jimmy relaxing on his back porch with a glass of Black Velvet with a cigarette, blaring the television. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Michele (Odorcich) McFarland; son, Michael "Mike" (Breanna) McFarland; his grand dog, Ellie; siblings, Timothy (Diane) McFarland, Tod Herchelroath, Joanna Sinchar, Sherry McLay, and David Herchelroath; special nephew, Neal (Alisha) McFarland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grand dog, Remi. There will not be any visitation or services. A memorial picnic will be held at a later date.
