James C. "Jim" Murray

James C. “Jim” Murray, 75, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026. He was born June 4, 1950, in McKeesport, and was the son of the late James Clyde and Viola B. (Bonnet) Murray. Jim was raised just off Garbett Street in McKeesport and was a lifelong member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, where he worshipped from an early age. He was also a dedicated and longtime volunteer with the Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as both a chief and engine technician. He was employed for many years as a plumbing technician with Culligan and later as a bus driver for the Elizabeth Forward School District, where he also became a certified trainer. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia A. (Groff) Murray; his children, William A. (Ehrin) Murray of Forward Township, and Jamie Lynn (John Caster) Murray of McKeesport; his granddaughter, Abigail Lee Murray; along with nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 2-6pm at the Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Hall (upstairs) - 3333 Fire Station St. Buena Vista, PA 15018. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jim's honor to the fire hall. Condolences may be made at GilbertFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com.
