James "Red" Sholtis, 75, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. He was born May 26, 1951, in McKeesport and was the son of the late James Bernard and Betty Lucille (Sorenson) Sholtis. He was the husband of the late Clare Ann Sholtis, who passed away on March 4, 2013. Red loved watching Pittsburgh sports, especially the Pirates and Steelers, while having an Iron City Beer. He also loved the History Channel and Ancient Aliens. He was a 1969 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and worked for Consol Energy for 35 years as a deckhand and river technician. James is survived by his son, Michael James Sholtis of Leechburg; sister, Robin Marie (the late Mark) Megela of Pfafftown, NC; brother, Jack Joseph (Stacey) Sholtis of Ketchum, ID; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Judith Ann House and Kathleen Diane Trbovic, and his brother, Jon V. Sholtis. There is no visitation.
