Johanna Mae DeMarco, 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026. She was born in West Newton on July 20, 1938, to the late James D. and Mary (Povirk) Smith. Johanna married her beloved husband, Thomas Kenneth DeMarco, on August 23, 1958, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. She devoted her life to raising her children and, later, enjoyed spending the time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. However, you could almost guarantee you would find her gambling and shopping. In addition to her husband, Tom, she is survived by her children, Christine (Bill) Ward and Thomas (Leslie) DeMarco; her grandchildren, Rachel Ward, Megan (Luke) Adams, Dominic (Kayla) DeMarco, Nicholas DeMarco, Robbie Peters, and Evan Peters; and her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cameron, Nora, Emilia, Oliver, and Hallie. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Tony) Vito; her brother, Ronald (Beverly) Smith; and many loving nieces and nephews. Johanna was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Robert Peters, as well as her siblings, Elinor, Gladys, Melvin, and Mary Ann. There are no services at this time. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
