John P. Lucas, Jr.

John P. Lucas, Jr., 87, of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Forest Hills, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023. He was born in Wilkinsburg on July 10, 1936 and was the son of the late John P. Lucas, Sr., and the late Cecilia “Tillie” (Luketich) Lucas. He was the husband of 60 years of the late Colleen (Karabin) Lucas before her passing on January 3, 2018. He was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and was a US Army Private First Class from 1956-1958. He worked as a technician for Westinghouse, Waltz Mill site for almost 30 years, and also serviced nuclear reactors in Europe and Asia. Prior to Westinghouse, John worked as a carpenter and throughout his life could design and build just about anything. John was a volunteer firefighter with the Greenock Volunteer Fire Dept., and with the Waltz Mill Fire Dept. for many years. He was also a long time member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, and the White Oak American Legion Post #701. An avid golfer, John also liked to spend his time camping and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Lego; son-in-law, Michael Lego; granddaughters, Cassidy Ann & Caroline Elizabeth Lego; sister, Cecilia “Cil” (the late Milan “Bo”) Bobick; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, John is also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lucas; and sister, Mary Thomas. John had requested no visitation at this time, rather, donations be made in his memory to his favorite charity, The Wounded Warrior Project at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
