Margaret Lois Peterson, 97, of Elizabeth Township, originally a 72 year resident of Lincoln Boro, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 17, 1929 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Thomas Lyons and Loretta (Kelly) Lyons Schaible. Margaret worked as a presser for 40 years at multiple dry cleaning locations in the area. She was also a member of The Lincoln Boro Mothers Club and a proud 4H mother spending many weekends at horse shows. Margaret also was a seamstress for the South Allegheny Musicals in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fans, her favorite players were Franco Harris, Ben Roethlisberger and Evgeni "Geno" Malkin. She enjoyed going to the former Thursday Olympia Shopping Center Flea Markets, where she would collect tools and beanie babies. She loved Rita's Custard and Easter Peep Marshmallows. Margaret started doing the Mario Lemieux Foundation walk in 2013 and continued until 2021, where she collected many shirts and medals. Margaret loved her family and gave her entire life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known by many names, her children's friends knew her as Mrs. Pete, her grandchildren's friends as "Grammy and Gramps", and by her great-grandchildren's friends she was known as "Gigi". How can we not miss a woman like this. She is survived by daughters, Becki (the late James) Moore, Karen (Anthony) Teti, and Barb (the late Rick) Markette; grandchildren, Ryan Bogan, Bobbi Sue Moore, Joshua (Alexa) Teti, Cassi (David) Revtai, Adam (Amanda) Markette and Kaila Markette; great-grandchildren, Jarrett and Addison Markette, Isabella Obusek and another Baby Teti on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James "Jimmy" Peterson, her former husband, Carl Peterson and her siblings, Tom, Dan, George, Lorraine, Ruth, Jackie and Jim . Friends are welcome on Tuesday, September 8 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Funeral service will begin following visitation at 7:00 pm with Pastor Dan Bach, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margaret's name may be made to The Mario Lemieux Foundation at mariolemieux.org. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Bridge's Hospice, especially to Karly, Taisha, Sianna, Kayanne, Karen and Pastor Larry for the excellent care of their mother.
