Mary Louise Whitehead, 98, of Redstone Highlands, formerly of McKeesport, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026. She was born on December 25, 1927 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Edwin R. and Lena M. (Wermlinger) Liedtke. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Baird Whitehead Jr., who passed away October 14, 2002. Mary Louise had worked for many years as a key punch operator for the former GC Murphy Company in McKeesport. She was a woman of strong faith, who was a member of the former First Baptist Church in McKeesport, the former Riverview Baptist Church in McKeesport and was a current member of The First Presbyterian Church of Irwin. She loved to sing in the choir in church and had previously taught Sunday School. She loved to share her talent for singing whether it be in church or with the choir of Redstone Highlands. She especially loved religious music. Mary Louise was very social and loved to spend time with her friends and especially with her family. Mary Louise loved her family, and thoroughly enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took extensive care of her husband for many years while he was battling a long-term illness until his passing. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, H. Baird (Carol) Whitehead; grandchildren, Kristen (Jeff) Sansonetti, Mara (Matt) Perez, and Jay and Janine; great-grandchildren, Ava, Hudson, Isabella and Eli; brother, A. James (Caroline) Liedtke; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jay A. Whitehead and brother, Bob Liedtke. There will not be any visitation. Friends are welcome on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00 am at The First Presbyterian Church of Irwin, 617 Main St, Irwin, PA 15642 (PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH). Private inurnment will be held at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
