Neil Robert Jones

Neil Robert Jones, 62, of Irwin, passed away surrounded by his family on September 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 25, 1961 in McKeesport, PA. He was the son of Betty Lou (Culbert) Jones and the late James A. Jones. Neil graduated as valedictorian from McKeesport High School in 1979, where he was also a captain of the swim team. He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Grove City College and later obtained a Master's in Education from Penn State University. In the 1980s, Neil became a paramedic with White Oak Rescue Squad. He went on to work with the Center for Emergency Medicine, where he taught pediatric trauma care, served as a flight medic for Stat MedEvac, and worked as a manager at Children's Hospital. He also taught at the Community College of Allegheny County. Despite his demanding career, Neil never abandoned his love for swimming, serving as a coach for McKeesport High School and later with the Norwin Aqua Club totaling 37 years. Neil is survived by his wife, Theresa (King) Jones; daughters, Angela Jones and Nicole Jones; and son, Alexander Jones. He is also survived by his brothers, Mark (Cindy) Jones and David (Susan) Jones; nieces, Heather (Manny), Chrissy (Gage), Kimmy (Mitch), Amanda (Jessie); nephew, Adam (Janet); and many friends, including his Norwin Aqua Club family. Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak (412) 672-6322 Troy J.
