Patricia Ruth Trapani

Patricia Ruth Trapani, 88, of Ross Township, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 21, 1933, in Lawrenceville to the late Michael and Viola Konopelski. She was the wife of nearly 65 years to the late Dominic C. Trapani, who passed away May 21, 2020. After graduating as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Saint Francis School of Nursing in 1954, Patricia spent almost her entire nursing career at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh (Highland Drive). She was the 1990 recipient of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association Nurse of the Year award and was presented with a Senatorial citation. Pat and Dom spent their free time traveling the globe. Patricia once wrote, “When all this comes to a screeching halt, I don’t intend to have too many should have done’s.” Rest assured, she did not. She is survived by her four children, Marybeth Trapani-Hanasewych, (the late John Hanasewych), Michelle Harper (Michael), Michael Trapani (Nancy), and Maria Goman (William). Also survived by her eight grandchildren, Patrick Hanasewych, Matthew and Meghan Harper, Katie McKelvy and Kelly Trapani, and Nicholas, Samantha, and Timothy Goman. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, R. Michael Konopelski and Jack King. There will be no visitation. The family will hold a private inurnment and memorial service at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date.
