Sandra Lee Lehner

February 11, 1950 — July 4, 2025

Elizabeth Township

Daughter of Louis and Lillian Broder

Better known as Sandy or Anny, she was the best, most unique person most of us will ever have the privilege of knowing. And as such, this story needs to demonstrate her moxie, humor, kindness, generosity, and depth of love. The friends and family who really knew her understand she would want nothing less than a funny tribute about how awesome she was. So, enjoy the inside jokes.

She is survived by her devoted husband Russell Greg Lehner (who does not like vanilla cake), her daughters: Amy (Todd) Wood and Trudy (Jeff) Pzynski, her favorite granddaughter: Samantha Wood, and her favorite grandson: Connor Wood, Spenser Wood, and Oliver Pzynski. Her sisters: Susan (Bob) Keeler and Beth (Jack) Karos, Sister-in-law Penny (Jay) Natale, chosen family: The Pasquales, too many nieces and nephews to name, and too many cats to list.

A Jewish American Princess born in McKeesport, PA, Sandy’s life theme song would have been Sinatra’s, “I did it my way” all the time! Stubborn, but with a heart of gold. Her life motto, “everything happens for a reason.” She shared her talents as a teacher and guidance counselor for the Elizabeth Forward school district for over 30 years, dishing out sage advice to faculty, staff, and students. There was never an opinion she wasn’t willing to share. She was a fierce advocate and life-long friend to many - you know who you are!

If Sandy loved you, or liked you a little, she shopped for you. And if things were on sale, lookout! Mention something once and you would get every version of it in the mail. Her grandkids will miss the Scavenger Hunt Fairy and the Magical Summers. We will all miss the fruit slices, t-shirts, and Christmas ornaments. Gifts were her way of showing her love and trying to make you laugh. You may have received an entire box of gifts with a random can of green beans in order to fill the box. Sandy wanted you to know you were loved. If you were hurting, she looked for ways to lift you up. If you were pissed, she looked for ways to make you laugh. If you needed a drink, Greg would get it for you.

Sandy loved a good poem so here is one for her. Roses are red, violets are blue, you were the best mom, and we miss you! Mom, we know you are sitting on your front porch hanging out with all your critters: raccoons, foxes, deer, opossums, and all the cats. We love you!

No services are being held. She is too tired and can’t leave the cats! If you want to honor Sandy, throw on a cat shirt or sequined top and have a Peach Bellini because she was NOT a diabetic!
