Sheldon S. Abramovitz

Sheldon S. Abramovitz, 78, of West Newton, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026 at home. He was born November 24, 1947 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late David and Belle (Liss) Abramovitz. He was the husband of 54 years to the late Charlotte J. (Jones) Abramovitz, who passed away November 6, 2025. Sheldon grew up in Squirrel Hill and attended Taylor Allderdice High School and Point Park College. He spent his career in industrial supply sales, and later working for the Pittsburgh Transportation Group. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and was an avid sports fan, always rooting for his favorite Pittsburgh sports teams. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Heather Abramovitz and Mindy (Ryan) McMahon; grandchildren, Quinn and Patrick; siblings Hilda (the late William) McNabb, Ruben (the late Arlene) Abramovitz, and Alvin Abramovitz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Service will begin at 6:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Adam Stump, officiating. Private burial will be at Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
