Thomas L. Andrew, 76, of West Mifflin, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born December 2, 1944 in McKeesport and was the son of the late William A. and Edna (Hager) Andrew. He was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, McKeesport. Tom retired from the Library of Congress in 2011 after working for 40 years as a descriptive cataloger in the German Dept. He graduated from Grove City College in 1966 where he perfected his mastery of the German language. He also studied French and had an amazing grasp on the dialects of both languages. Tom traveled with a dear friend to Germany and France and loved cruises. He taught German for a brief time at the University of Pittsburgh to student nurses. He enjoyed playing piano from a young age and played last on his 75th birthday. He water skied as a young man and loved roller skating. Possibly his greatest accomplishment was his kindness, generosity and love for all people. He will be forever remembered for helping others. He was preceded in death by his siblings, William E. Andrew of East McKeesport, Mary Louise Engstrom of Clearwater, FL, James C. Andrew of Houston, TX, Jean Hileman of McKeesport and Ruth Ann James of McKeesport. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, dear friends and acquaintances. There is no visitation. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held by his family.
