Thomas J. Eddy, 95, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 11, 1924 in Republic and was the son of the late Samuel G. and Minnie (Obertots) Eddy. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Versailles Croatian Club. He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1942 and served in the Navy during WWII. He graduated from the Sonar Training Station in Key West, FL, and earned a second class petty officer rating as a Sonar Man. He served on the USS Bates at Normandy, Iwo Jima, and survived the ship's sinking at Okinawa. He was active in Sports with the Crimson and 3rd Ward Bulldog football teams, several softball clubs and as a McKeesport Umpire's Association umpire. He retired from US Steel Duquesne Works in 1984. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Regosh) Eddy. They were married in St. Peter and Paul Church in Duquesne and enjoyed 72 years of happiness together in a wonderful marriage. He is also survived by his sons, Thomas Eddy, Jr, of Naples, FL and James (Janice) Eddy of Cherry Tree, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Donna Eddy of Cherry Tree, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Eddy, son, Richard Eddy, brother, Samuel Eddy, Jr, sister, Selma Eddy Hunt, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Eddy.
