Thomas Perry "Tom" Farnan, 88, of White Oak passed away peacefully beside his family Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at LGAR Health and Rehabilitation Center in Turtle Creek, PA. Tom was born and raised in McKeesport on August 13, 1938 to the late Joseph Farnan and Helen Putz. He went on to study at the University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Banking Institute, starting what became a successful and well-respected 45 year career in banking. He later retired as an HR pension plan administrator in Wheeling, WV. He proudly served 4 years in the US Air Force, spending two years in Fontainebleau, France, as a ground radio repairman. Tom always loved reminiscing about his time spent in France. In 1962, Tom married Margaret "Peggy" Dorothy Shiring of Wilmerding. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and raised their four children. Above all, Tom loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was always ready with a bit of simple wisdom, often reminding them, "I will do the best I can, that is all anyone can do." An avid reader who loved collecting books, Tom had a witty sense of humor and loved to joke. He enjoyed short family trips, especially to the casino.
Tom was also a great neighbor and friend who stayed close with his St. Peter's classmates for seven decades, recently even celebrating their 70th year milestone together.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Shiring) Farnan; his four children, Leslie Farnan (Chuck) of Chambersburg, PA., Amy Hebda (Tom) of Monroeville, PA., Victoria DeLia (Jason) of North Versailles, PA., and Timothy Farnan of Butler, PA; his grandchildren, Daniel (Stephanie), Joshua, Milah, and Ryan; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Milana; and by his brother, Patrick Farnan; and sister, Theresa Lalaeff.
Tom will be deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in eternal peace.
