Tracie L. Pry

Tracie Lee Pry, 57, of McKeesport, PA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 20, 2026. She was born June 21, 1968, and was the daughter of the late Kurt and Grace (Honick) Pommer. She married the love of her life, John P. Pry I. Tracie studied cosmetology and was a hairdresser and homemaker for many years while raising two sons, Johnny and Mark. Tracie returned to school and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from California University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2002 and went on to teach for McKeesport Area School District for twenty years. Teaching was one of the greatest joys of Tracie’s life. She often had students from prior years seek her out to tell her what an impact she had on their lives. Her love of teaching, helping others, and her beautiful personality created bonds with her coworkers, and she cherished those relationships greatly. Tracie loved spending time at their camp, it was her “Happy Place”. She loved going to the movies with her husband, cooking and baking, eating at her favorite restaurants, celebrating holidays and special life events with family and friends. Tracie was the sixth child of Grace and Kurt and grew up in McKeesport where she would eventually teach. Tracie’s smile had a way of making you smile and feel so special that it made you want to know her better. She made you feel valued and happy. She was intelligent and loving and was focused on being the best role model she could be, while at the same time she was down to earth, laid back, and so easy to just talk to or relax and enjoy the moment with. It meant the world to Tracie to be surrounded by her family and close friends eating good food, wearing comfy clothes, making memories, enjoying good conversation, sitting by a campfire, or watching her favorite show, Dr. Pol, or a movie. Tracie was also a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Tracie is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, John; son John P. (Sam) Pry II of Turtle Creek; son Mark K. (Linzi) Pry of Speers; brothers Eric (Denise) Pommer of Duquesne and Keith of Dravosburg; special Aunt Karen (Honick) Mulvay of Irwin; sister-in-law Cherie (Wayne) Williams of West Mifflin; best friend of 46 years, Jeanie Inks (John) Hufford of Hannastown; several other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. Tracie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Chris, Jeff, and Matt Pommer. Friends are welcome on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township, (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
